Florida Marlins' SS Hanley Ramirez leaves game
Apr. 27, 2009 (Sun Sentinel delivered by Newstex ) --

Shortstop Hanley Ramirez took a John Maine pitch off the right hand in the first inning Monday and left the Marlins' first ever game at Citi (NYSE:C) Field.

?

Ramirez could not elude the 3-2 offering, the eighth pitch of the at-bat, with one out and one on. Maines threw a 94 mile per hour fastball that bore in on Ramirez. He immediately dropped the bat and started jogging toward the Marlins dugout.

?

In spite of the Marlins six-game losing streak, Ramirez has been hitting well. He began the night having hit safely in his last eight games and a .333 clip (11 for 33), raising his average from .256 to .289.

?

Ross Gload entered the game as a pinch-runner and took over in right field. Cody Ross moved to center and Alfredo Amezaga came in to play short.

?

A Gary Sheffield error in left contributed to the Marlins taking a 1-0 lead on Jorge Cantu's RBI-single.
