--OF Ross Gload became the second player to have a home run reversed on video replay -- hours after Pittsburgh's Adam LaRoche became the first. Gload's shot hooked just to the right of the right field foul pole, but it was initially signaled a home run. He wound up striking out. "I'm not a big fan of instant replay," Gload said, "but they got it right."
--Slumping 2B Dan Uggla -- 4-for-31 (.129) with three RBIs in his first nine games this month -- was dropped from fifth to sixth in the batting order Wednesday. C John Baker hit fifth. Uggla went 0-for-4. --3B Emilio Bonifacio went 2-for-5 Wednesday for his second straight multi-hit game. The last time he had consecutive multi-hit games was the first two games of the season.
--RF Cody Ross, 7-for-38 (.184) this month and 2-for-17 on the road trip, did not play Wednesday. Jeremy Hermida was in right field, and rookie Chris Coghlan was in left.
--The Marlins sent minor league RHP Eric Basurto, a 33rd-round pick in 2006, to Kansas City on Wednesday to complete the Ross Gload trade.
MEDICAL WATCH:
LHP Andrew Miller (strained right oblique) went on the 15-day disabled list April 21. The injury is not believed to be serious. He played long-toss April 28, and he threw a bullpen session May 2. He made a rehab start for Class A Jupiter on May 6. He made a rehab start for Class AA Jacksonville on May 11, and he will be activated May 16.
RHP Anibal Sanchez (strained right shoulder) went on the 15-day disabled list May 8. He will miss approximately two months.
RHP Rick VandenHurk (inflamed right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 28.
RHP Scott Proctor (sore right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on May 12. He had season-ending Tommy John surgery May 12.
