Marlinshome.com | Florida Marlins News, marlins Scores, Game Recaps & Commentary - --SS Hanley Ramirez could be in for another big series starting Tuesday in Milwaukee after going 9-for-13 in three games against the Rockies over the weekend. He's a .391 lifetime hitter against the Brewers (25-for-64) with three home runs and 14 RBI in 16 games. At Miller Park, Ramirez is 18-for-45 (.400) with three home runs and 11 RBI in 10 games.
--IF Wes Helms is anxious to see the kind of reception he'll get when the Marlins arrive in Milwaukee for a three-game series that starts Tuesday. A former Brewer, Helms was booed mercilessly in his last two visits to Miller Park. "Last year, I stayed in my (hotel) room," he said. This will be his first visit to Milwaukee since his home run on Sept. 28 helped the Marlins knock the Mets out the playoffs, which sealed a postseason spot for the Brewers. Helms' home run was shown on the scoreboard that day at Miller Park, where fans erupted in a thunderous ovation. "I can probably eat all the cheese I want (in Milwaukee) next season," he said after the game at Shea Stadium. Helms wasn't sure if he'll get cheers this week, let alone any cheese. "I don't know what they're going to do. They might throw rocks at me," said Helms, who is puzzled by the recent chilly receptions he has received. He played well in his three seasons as a Brewer (2003-05). "I can understand Philly booing me because I struggled there but Milwaukee? I had good years there."
--RHP Chris Volstad is giving up home runs this year at a faster rate than he has at any time in his professional career. Volstad, who has pitched 42 1/3 innings -- served up his staff-leading sixth dinger of the year in the first inning Sunday to Troy Tulowitzki. Based on Volstad's goal of pitching 200 innings, he is on pace to surrender around 30 home runs this year. "I don't feel like it's a huge thing," he said. "I'm not too worried about it at all. Last year was kind of an anomaly."
--RHP Scott Proctor was supposed to see Dr. James Andrews on Monday but will now see him Tuesday. Proctor felt intense elbow pain during a bullpen session May 4. Proctor hasn't pitched since February; he had surgery in October to repair a torn flexor tendon. But Proctor knows there's a chance he'll need Tommy John surgery, which would put him out of action at least until late 2010.
MEDICAL WATCH:
RHP Anibal Sanchez (strained right shoulder) went on the 15-day disabled list May 8. He will miss approximately two months.
LHP Andrew Miller (strained right oblique) went on the 15-day disabled list April 21. The injury is not believed to be serious. He played long-toss April 28, and he threw a bullpen session May 2. He made a rehab start for Class A Jupiter on May 6. He will make another rehab start May 11, and if all goes well, he would be activated May 16.
RHP Scott Proctor (sore right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. He will visit Dr. James Andrews on May 11. He is hoping to return by June 1.
RHP Rick VandenHurk (inflamed right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 28.
