--SS Hanley Ramirez homered in the first inning Friday, his third shot in two games and sixth of the year. He finished 4-for-5 with 2 RBI, boosting his average to .327 from a pre-game .303.
Ramirez has four home runs in his last five games and he's 11-for-22 over his last five games. "Hanley is swinging the bat real well, but we need everybody to fire all at once," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "Hitting is contagious. Hopefully we'll continue swinging the bats."
--2B Dan Uggla was benched Friday after going 0-for-4 Thursday, making him 2-for-22 in May with a .190 batting average this season. Replacing Uggla in the starting lineup was Chris Coghlan, who was called up Friday from Class AAA New Orleans.
MEDICAL WATCH:
RHP Anibal Sanchez (sprained right shoulder) left the May 7 game, and was placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 8.
LHP Andrew Miller (strained right oblique) went on the 15-day disabled list April 21. The injury is not believed to be serious. He played long-toss April 28, and he threw a bullpen session May 2. He made a rehab start for Class A Jupiter on May 6. He will make another rehab start May 11, and if all goes well, he would be activated May 16.
RHP Scott Proctor (sore right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. He will visit Dr. James Andrews on May 11. He is hoping to return by June 1.
RHP Rick VandenHurk (inflamed right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 28.
