--2B Dan Uggla is 2-for-22 in May after going 0-for-4 Thursday, dropping his average to .190. "This is about as frustrated as I've ever been because I'm having good at-bats with nothing to show for it," he said.
--CF Cameron Maybin got his second consecutive start batting second Thursday and went 0-for-3. The Marlins need all kinds of improvement from everyone in their lineup, but in particular they need Maybin to improve his situational hitting. He struck out with a runner at third base in the third inning, leaving him 1-for-24 with runners in scoring position this season. MEDICAL WATCH:
RHP Anibal Sanchez (sore right shoulder) left the May 7 game, and the Marlins were awaiting results of an X-ray and an MRI.
LHP Andrew Miller (strained right oblique) went on the 15-day disabled list April 21. The injury is not believed to be serious. He played long-toss April 28, and he threw a bullpen session May 2. He made a rehab start for Class A Jupiter on May 6. He will make another rehab start May 11, and if all goes well, he would be activated May 16.
RHP Scott Proctor (sore right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. He will visit Dr. James Andrews on May 11. He is hoping to return by June 1.
RHP Rick VandenHurk (inflamed right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 28.
