The team claimed LHP Dave Davidson off waivers from the Pirates and optioned him to Class AAA New Orleans. Davidson adds depth to a staff that lost LHP Taylor Tankersley, who had surgery to repair a stress fracture on a bone in his left elbow.
PLAYER NEWS: --RHP Matt Lindstrom redeemed himself Tuesday with a perfect ninth inning to notch his fourth save. It was his first relief appearance since he blew a save Friday by allowing seven runs in the ninth inning.
--LHP Andrew Miller, on the disabled list since April 20 because of a right oblique strain, said the pain is gone. He said stretching and strengthening should prevent a relapse of the injury. He played long-toss Tuesday, a day after throwing 30 pitches in the bullpen.
--RHP Josh Johnson said he's looking forward to his Wednesday rematch against LHP Johan Santana. On April 12, Johnson faced off against Santana and beat the Mets for his second career complete game. "Hopefully it ends the same way," Johnson said.
MEDICAL WATCH:
SS Hanley Ramirez (bruised right hand) left the April 27 game, and he didn't play April 28. X-rays were negative, and he's day-to-day.
LHP Andrew Miller (strained right oblique) went on the 15-day disabled list April 21. The injury is not believed to be serious. He played long-toss April 28.
RHP Scott Proctor (sore right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. He won't return before mid-May.
RHP Rick VandenHurk (inflamed right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 28.
