The team claimed LHP Dave Davidson off waivers from the Pirates and optioned him to Triple-A New Orleans. Davidson adds depth to a staff that lost LHP Taylor Tankersley, who had surgery to repair a stress fracture on a bone in his left elbow.
PLAYER NEWS: --SS Hanley Ramirez left Monday's game in the first inning after being hit on the back of his right hand and wrist by a pitch from John Maine. X-rays were negative, and he is day-to-day.
"I knew it wasn't broken because it didn't hit the bone," Ramirez said. "It's just bruised and it hurts a lot." Alfredo Amezaga moved from RF to SS and Ross Gload entered the game in RF after Ramirez was hurt.
--3B Emilio Bonifacio will stay in the leadoff spot for now, despite the streaky hitter's recent struggles. Bonifacio is 4-for-30 during the seven-game losing streak.
--CF Cameron Maybin was held out of Monday's starting lineup with the Mets. Maybin, a rookie, had a rough homestand, 1-for-11 with four strikeouts as the Marlins lost all three to the Phillies. He's hitting .189 this year and is 0-for-15 with runners in scoring position. He leads the team with 22 strikeouts.
--CF Alfredo Amezaga started in place of the benched Cameron Maybin.
--RF Cody Ross said he felt mild soreness Monday in his back and right leg, the result of doing something he isn't used to -- pitching. Ross pitched a scoreless ninth inning of relief Sunday in a 13-2 loss to the Phillies. Ross went 0-for-4 Monday and felt more soreness when he crashed into the wall trying to catch David Wright's triple in the eighth inning.

SS Hanley Ramirez (bruised right hand) was hit by a pitch April 27. X-rays were negative, and he's day-to-day.
1B Jorge Cantu (sore left wrist) didn't play April 21-24. He returned to action April 25.
LHP Andrew Miller (strained right oblique) went on the 15-day disabled list April 21. The injury is not believed to be serious.
RHP Scott Proctor (sore right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. He won't return before mid-May.
RHP Rick VandenHurk (inflamed right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 28.
