--The wear and tear on the bullpen, which has bailed out the Marlins during the team's seven-game winning streak, is starting to show. RHP Logan Kensing gave up four runs in 2 1/3 innings Monday in Florida's 8-0 loss to the Pirates. He also had a wild pitch and a balk, which brought in a run.
--Even when he's not with the team, equipment manager John Silverman comes through in the clutch. Silverman is not on the Marlins road trip because he ran Monday in the Boston Marathon. But he had foresight before the team left Florida April 13 to prepare for the all possible elements. He made sure to pack tassel caps for cold weather.
Appreciative Marlins players are wearing the caps now as the 50-degree temps start dipping.
"Silver has been doing this so long, he's prepared for anything," said Mike "Rock" Hughes, Silverman's assistant. "He's at the top of his game, always."
BY THE NUMBERS: 24 -- Consecutive scoreless innings, a franchise record for the Marlins bullpen that ended Sunday when RHP Leo Nunez allowed a run in the eighth inning.
