--RHP Chris Volstad never wore long sleeves under his uniform at any level growing up in South Florida. So he stuck with his usual elbow-length undershirt Tuesday night in Atlanta, despite 50-degree temperatures that kept falling.
"It was cold," said Volstad, who allowed one run in seven innings in Florida's 5-1 win. "I was sitting down by the heater the whole game in between innings. "I never throw in sleeves. Growing up in Florida I never had to. Now it feels weird if I have sleeves on."
--RHP Josh Johnson will receive a watch for winning the NL Player of the Week award, but he said he'd give it to teammate Emilio Bonifacio, who hit .500 (14-for-28) with a home run, nine runs and five RBIs.
"If he wants it, I'll give it to him. He definitely deserves it," said Johnson, who went 2-0 with a 0.57 ERA. "He's been doing it day in and day out. He's been our starter, our guy that gets it going for us."
--1B Logan Morrison, considered the organization's top power-hitting prospect, will be out six to eight weeks after fracturing his right thumb with Class AA Jacksonville on Friday. Morrison, 21, was named Florida State League MVP in 2008 after batting .332 with 13 homers and 74 RBIs for Class A Jupiter. The left-handed hitter collided with a runner Friday and suffered a small fracture. He was 2-for-6 with a home run and three RBIs in two games for Jacksonville.
