--INF/OF Alfredo Amezaga on Wednesday hit his first home run since July 13, 2007. The shot put the Marlins up 6-5 in the 12th inning before the Mets rallied to win 7-6.
--LHP Mark Hendrickson will try to continue his best start ever Friday when he starts in Philadelphia. Hendrickson is 7-1 in his last 10 starts. He is 0-1 with a 12.60 ERA in two career games (one start) against the Phillies. --1B Mike Jacobs expects to return to the starting lineup Friday. He was out Wednesday, partly to give him a rest against Mets LHP Oliver Perez but also to rest his right quad muscle that he aggravated earlier this month. The Marlins were off Thursday, so that gave Jacobs two days to rest his leg.
He is 7-for-18 against Phillies RHP Brett Myers, who starts Friday against the Marlins.
--2B Dan Uggla said he is looking forward to playing against his counterpart in Philadelphia this weekend, Phillies 2B Chase Utley.
"I love everything about his game," Uggla said. "He brings the same energy, and he's the same guy who comes to the field every day. You know exactly what you're going to get from him, day in and day out. I think he's one of those rare cases -- he can hit for average, hit for power and drive in runs."
--The Marlins are 15-10 this month, their first winning May since 2004 (15-13). The team's best May was 16-11 (.593), set in 1996 and 1997.
