--Manager Fredi Gonzalez wasn't trilled to see C Mike Rabelo spike the ball in front of home plate Tuesday after Dodgers 3B Blake DeWitt was thrown out to the end the eighth inning.
"I just don't like to see that on the field," said Gonzalez, who spoke to his catcher. "I just want my players to be professional, make the play and throw the ball back to the mound." Rabelo said he was not attempting to show up the Dodgers.
"It was an intense play," he said. "Maybe I shouldn't have done it. It's no disrespect to the Dodgers, or the runner. If that's the only criticism I get, because of my intensity, I'll sleep better at night."
--1B Mike Jacobs received a cortisone shot Wednesday in his sprained right middle finger. He hasn't started since leaving Saturday's game in the sixth inning.
--LF Josh Willingham, who missed a second consecutive game Tuesday, said his sore back is feeling better. He is listed as day-to-day.
--RHP Burke Badenhop, who starts against the Dodgers on Thursday, is looking to go more than five innings as he makes his fourth big-league start. He allowed six runs on eight hits and a walk while taking a 7-4 loss at Atlanta last week. He made it through five innings despite allowing five runs in the first.
--C Matt Treanor will start Wednesday, his second start in eight games.
