--RHP Logan Kensing avoided arbitration, agreeing to a one-year, $660,000 deal with the Marlins. Kensing made 48 appearances for Florida last year, finishing 3-1 with a 4.23 ERA.
--RHP Scott Proctor signed a one-year, $750,000 contract with the Marlins, giving the bullpen another veteran. He went 2-0 with a 6.06 ERA last season in 11 appearances for the Dodgers but missed most of the year with an elbow injury that required surgery. His deal includes an extra $250,000 in incentives. --Count the Marlins out of the running for RHP Derrick Turnbow, who has chosen to sign with Texas. Florida and Pittsburgh were interested in Turnbow.
--RHP Jesus Delgado was pitching well in the Venezuelan Winter League. He was 4-0 with a 3.61 ERA through 14 games (seven starts). Delgado, 24, will compete for a bullpen spot in spring training.
--INF Alfredo Amezaga was batting .265 (26-for-96) through 26 games in the Mexican Winter League.
--INF Emilio Bonifacio's hot start in the Dominican Winter League had cooled off. He had a recent 10-game stretch in which he was 9-for-38 (.237). Overall, he was hitting .285 (53-for-186) through 46 games for Licey. He has played some outfield in winter ball, but the Marlins will give him a look at third base.
