--Limiting his pitch count will be a top priority Monday when LHP Mark Hendrickson makes his next start, against the Diamondbacks.
Hendrickson threw 109 pitches in 4 1/3 innings on May 8 followed by 93 pitches in five innings May 13.
--RHP Kevin Gregg was approaching one week since his last outing so on Saturday, he approached manager Fredi Gonzalez.
"He said, 'How do you get on the list?'" Gonzalez said. "I said, 'What list?' He said, 'The list to get into the game.'"
So on Saturday, with the Marlins ahead 7-4 entering the ninth, Gregg was summoned in a non-save situation, his first game since May 11. He allowed one hit in a scoreless inning.
"For me you feel so fresh, almost a little too much in the tank," Gregg said. "I wanted to pitch no matter what. I like to pitch no matter the score."
Gregg pitched a scoreless ninth inning Sunday in mop-up duty.
--With two home runs in his last two games, 1B Mike Jacobs has reached double-digit homers at the fastest point in his career. He hit his 10th homer in 2007 on June 17. Jacobs hit his 10th this year on Saturday and his 11th on Sunday.
Jacobs left the May 7 game after aggravating his hamstring and returned Friday. The key, he said, was not being placed on the disabled list.
"Being able to take batting practice every day and getting some pinch-hit at-bats, I think that helps," he said.
--LF Luis Gonzalez needs one more double to tie Wade Boggs for 17th on the all-time list. Gonzalez hit his 577th career double on Sunday.
BY THE NUMBERS: 3 -- Pinch-hit home runs for the Marlins going into Sunday, tied for the NL lead (Philadelphia).
