--SS Hanley Ramirez went 1-for-12 with seven strikeouts in the weekend series against Kansas City, a stretch that included five straight strikeouts. On Saturday, Ramirez signed a six-year, $70 million contract. He's 6-for-31 since news broke about his contract. He ended a streak of 11 consecutive hitless at-bats with a single to start the sixth inning on Sunday. Asked if he was putting too much pressure on himself, Ramirez replied: "I'm going to go home and get a dictionary, because I don't know what that word is."
--1B Mike Jacobs has looked good since returning to the starting lineup Saturday for the first time since May 7. His sore left quad apparently is no longer an issue as Jacobs homered in each of the past two days. His shot on Sunday was his 11th of the year.
--LHP Scott Olsen's velocity remained under 90 mph for the second straight start, but neither he nor the team is worried. He has reported no arm or shoulder discomfort, and the Marlins have won both of Olsen's last two starts.
--IF Wes Helms connected for a pinch-hit home run in the seventh inning Saturday, giving the Marlins three for the season.
--2B Dan Uggla went 2-for-4 Sunday and is batting .397 in his past 18 games.
