The Marlins finished 14-3 against the Nationals.
--CF Cameron Maybin, who left Wednesday's game in the sixth inning with a stiff left hip, felt well enough to play Thursday. But the Marlins held him out of the posted lineup as a precaution because of wet weather in Washington. Maybin, 21, is batting .500 (14-for-28) in seven games since being called up last week from Class AA Carolina.
--LF Josh Willingham has homered in his last three games.
--SS Hanley Ramirez's 33 home runs are the sixth-highest total all time by a shortstop. Ernie Banks has the top four totals, followed by Rich Aurilia's 36 in 2001. The record is 47, by Banks in 1958.
--C John Baker was not in the posted starting lineup for a second straight game because of a sore left knee. Baker said he felt well enough to play, but the team didn't want to take any chances with the wet weather in Washington.
BY THE NUMBERS: 4 -- Hits for CF Cameron Maybin in his first Marlins start. He joins Jeff Conine (1993) and Carlos Delgado (2005) as the only players to get four hits in their first Marlins starts.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "If we were Boston or the Mets, one of those big teams, every home run we hit from now on would be on (television) every night. I think it's pretty disappointing that they're not showing the fans around the country what's going on down here." -- 1B Mike Jacobs, who said the national media hasn't played up Florida's record-setting season of home runs.
