--CF Cameron Maybin went 3-for-3 before leaving the game after the top of the sixth inning with a stiff left hip. He singled and stole a base in the top of the sixth.
--C John Baker was scratched from the lineup three hours before Wednesday's game because of a sore left knee. He tweaked the knee while running from first to third base Monday in Cincinnati, manager Fredi Gonzalez said.
Baker, who was available to pinch-hit but wasn't used, has hit safely in 15 of his last 17 games. His .308 batting average (53-for-172) since the All-Star break leads the team.
--C Matt Treanor, who started Wednesday for the first time since Sept. 7, plans to have surgery Oct. 1 to repair three muscle tears in his left hip area. He hopes to start rehabbing by the last week of October and resume full activities in mid-November.
