Catcher Matt Treanor isn't ready to give up on his season, but he's definitely disappointed.

Treanor made his first start Sunday since Aug. 24, but it didn't last very long. He left the game in the second inning after fouling a ball off his left knee.

Treanor was examined by the Cardinals' medical team. An X-ray showed a deep bone bruise, and he is listed as day-to-day.

"I feel snake-bitten right now, to be honest with you," Treanor said. "I haven't played in a while, and (I) get a chance to get back there, and I'm not able to do anything for the club. It's very frustrating."

Treanor missed most of July with a left hip strain. He returned from the disabled list Aug. 6 but has since seen his playing time diminish, with rookie John Baker getting most of the action along with veteran Paul Lo Duca.

CARDINALS 3, MARLINS 1: RHP Josh Johnson allowed three runs in 6 2/3 innings and lost for the first time since June 29, 2007. 1B Mike Jacobs hit his 30th home run in the second inning, but the Marlins couldn't score again despite collecting six more hits.
