Uggla left Saturday's game in the fourth inning after he took a hard turn toward second base on a single then lost his footing and stumbled in the dirt.
"It's still a little sore but it's a lot better than I thought it was going to feel," he said Sunday, walking without the crutches he used after Saturday's game.
Uggla was optimistic he could return Wednesday, but manager Fredi Gonzalez was leaning toward keeping him out of action until the team opens a four-game series in Colorado on Thursday.
"We'll see how he is Wednesday. Hopefully everything progresses well and he should be able to play when we go on the road trip," Gonzalez said.
Uggla's absence leaves the Marlins with a light bench. Robert Andino started at second Sunday. Gonzalez said Alfredo Amezaga, out since June 21 with a tight left groin, could play infield Sunday with Andino moving to the outfield if one of the outfielders got hurt.
Gonzalez said he doesn't think Amezaga or Uggla will have to go on the disabled list.
MARLINS 4, DIAMONDBACKS 3: SS Hanley Ramirez homered on the first pitch with one out in the bottom of the ninth off Brandon Lyon to tie the game. Over the next eight pitches, Jeremy Hermida doubled and scored on Jorge Cantu's single past a drawn-in infield for Florida's seventh walk-off win of the year. LHP Scott Olsen allowed three runs over seven innings but failed to get his first win since May 6.
