Florida Marlins Inside Pitch 2009-05-07
Help is on the way for the Marlins rotation -- at least, that's what the team is hoping.

Left-hander Andrew Miller is on track to rejoin the staff May 16 if he pitches well in a rehab start May 11.

Miller settled down after a tough second inning in his first rehab start Wednesday for Class A Jupiter (Fla.), allowing a run on three hits in four innings.

Miller, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list April 20 with an oblique strain, said he felt no pain.

"That's what you want to get out of the first one, make sure you feel healthy," Miller said. "I was able to accomplish that today. I was able to, once I got settled in, kind of pitch a little bit."

Miller's rotation spot had been plugged by rookie left-hander Graham Taylor, who was optioned to Class AA Jacksonville after allowing eight runs (four earned) in 2 1/3 innings Wednesday night in Florida's 8-6 loss to the Braves.

BRAVES 8, MARLINS 6: 1B Jorge Cantu had five RBIs and a three-run home run Wednesday. But rookie LHP Graham Taylor didn't make it out of the third inning, allowing eight runs (four earned) in 2 1/3 innings. He was victimized by 3B Emilio Bonifacio's error, which helped bring in four unearned runs in the second inning. Florida has gone 19 consecutive games without a starter recording a win. The Marlins lost for the first time when out-hitting a team (10-9).
