The Marlins weren't happy Wednesday when the Mets took their sweet time getting a pinch hitter to the plate in the ninth inning. Now, Florida wants Major League Baseball to look into the matter.

Marlins pitcher Matt Lindstrom was forced to wait several minutes until Omir Santos pinch-hit. Though Santos popped out for the final out of the game, that didn't matter to the Marlins.

"We will talk to Major League Baseball about it," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "I don't know if you can do anything, I don't know if you can get a clock on it. It's gamesmanship."

Mets manager Jerry Manuel acknowledged that the idea of attempting to ice Lindstrom played a factor when he summoned backup catcher Omir Santos to pinch-hit with two outs and the bases loaded in a one-run game.

Santos had to navigate a long tunnel to the Mets' clubhouse before getting his equipment and getting to the dugout

"I just want to know what the standard is for a reasonable amount of time. There's pace-of-game standards and reasonable amount of time," Marlins baseball operations president Larry Beinfest said.

MARLINS 8, CUBS 2 (10 innings): The Marlins scored six runs in the 10th inning off Aaron Heilman -- the first time since 2002 the Marlins scored six runs in extra innings.

With SS Hanley Ramirez out because of a sore hand, the Marlins rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game in eighth. SS Alfredo Amezaga made a diving play to save a run in the bottom of the ninth.

RHP Chris Volstad allowed two runs on three hits in seven innings, but both runs came on homers, back-to-back by Milton Bradley and Mike Fontenot in the fifth inning.
