Right-hander Anibal Sanchez is looking forward to next year.

Sanchez's last scheduled start Thursday was rained out, essentially ending his season unless he's used in the bullpen this weekend.

Barring any more action, Sanchez will finish with a 2-5 record and 5.57 ERA over 10 starts. But he's not worried about his record. He's thrilled to have pitched pain-free after returning in July from shoulder surgery.

"The most important thing is I'm finishing the season healthy, which is what I'm looking for when I come back next year," said Sanchez, who struck out 50 and walked 27 in 51 2/3 innings.

Sanchez could slot in as the Marlins' No. 4 starter next year behind right-handers Josh Johnson, Ricky Nolasco and Chris Volstad.

MARLINS 6, METS 1: Rookie RHP Chris Volstad, who had never pitched in September before this year, allowed one unearned run in six innings Friday to help Florida push the Mets closer to the brink of elimination.
