Florida Marlins: Hanley Ramirez still hurting, Baker hitting third
Apr. 28, 2009 (Sun Sentinel delivered by Newstex ) --

Shortstop Hanley Ramirez can close his right hand, but not tight enough to grip a bat.

Monday, Ramirez left the game in the first inning after taking a John Maine fastball off the right hand. The swelling hasn't subsided all that much, but Ramirez is able to clench his fingers whereas Monday he could not.

Manager Fredi Gonzalez said it was 50-50 whether Ramirez would start in Wednesday's series finale. Bank on Ramirez not playing again until later in the week when the Marlins visit the Cubs at Wrigley.

The Marlins' lineup with Ramirez out: Emilio Bonifacio, 3B; Cameron Maybin, CF; John Baker, C; Jorge Cantu, 1B; Jeremy Hermida, LF; Dan Uggla, 2B; Cody Ross, RF; Alfredo Amezaga, SS; Ricky Nolasco, SP.

The Marlins are throwing the dice a bit with Bonifacio and Maybin atop the order. Both have had their issues as of late reaching base. Gonzalez said he liked Amezaga eighth because he has plenty of experience in that spot. He also thought Jeremy Hermida (4 for 13 lifetime off Hernandez) could give Cantu some protection.
